There was a man who had seven sons, but he had no daughter, greatly though he longed for one. At last his wife told him that they could again expect a child and, sure enough, when it was born it was a baby girl. There was great rejoicing, but the child was weak and puny, so weak that it had to be christened at once. The father told one of the boys to go quickly to the spring and fetch christening water; the other six ran along with him, and because each of them wanted to be the first to dip the jug into the well, it fell in and sank.
So there they stood and didn't know what to do, and none of them dared go home. When they didn't come back their father got impatient and said:" I'll wager they've been playing some game again and forgotten all about it, the godless brats." He was afraid the little girl would have to die unbaptized, and in his rage he cried out:" I wish those boys would all turn into ravens." He'd scarcely spoken the words when he heard a whirring of wings in the air overhead, looked up and saw seven coal-black ravens flying away.

敬愛的老師，親愛的同學(xué)們：
大家好！
我叫xx。這次我很榮幸能站在講臺(tái)上進(jìn)行英語科代表的競(jìng)選。這次，我要通過我的努力，成為老師的助手，同學(xué)的榜樣，我相信我一定能競(jìng)選上英語科代表這個(gè)職務(wù)。
雖然我是一名中學(xué)生，但是我喜愛英語，成績更是在班里名列前茅。甚至有時(shí)候玩游戲我都玩英語的，雖然有些我不會(huì)念，但慢慢來，總是能學(xué)會(huì)的。再說了，這幾年我一直都是英語課代表，有一些經(jīng)驗(yàn)，我有責(zé)任、有能力為英語老師做好我力所能及的工作。
一個(gè)人最可憐的是無知，最可悲的是自私，最可敬的.是拼搏。不管我競(jìng)選成功與否，我都會(huì)讓自私、無知與我無緣。只有那一股子拼勁，為大家，為班級(jí)做事。我在每次的英語考試中都能達(dá)到95分以上，成績很不錯(cuò)，此外，我有著強(qiáng)烈的責(zé)任心，有豐富的經(jīng)驗(yàn)，可以幫助老師做一些力所能及的事。如果我競(jìng)選成功，我一定會(huì)全心全意地為同學(xué)服務(wù)。每天早上，我會(huì)帶領(lǐng)同學(xué)們進(jìn)行早讀，并把同學(xué)的作業(yè)收齊。
我不僅英語學(xué)習(xí)成績好，而且我做的英文海報(bào)和我的英語書寫，也是很厲害的！我在業(yè)余時(shí)間里或假期里，我喜歡看英語報(bào)、讀英文書、唱英文歌……
我從二年級(jí)到五年級(jí)，都是英語課代表，所以我有決心和經(jīng)驗(yàn)來承擔(dān)英語課代表這個(gè)職責(zé)。雖然我的口語能力還有待提高，但是我會(huì)繼續(xù)努力的！
如果我當(dāng)上了英語課代表，我會(huì)盡力為老師和同學(xué)服務(wù)！
在課上，我會(huì)帶頭積極舉手發(fā)言；課下，如果有同學(xué)來問我不會(huì)的題，我也一定會(huì)耐心爽快地回答。如果遇到了一些難題，我會(huì)組織其他的同學(xué)共同探討，并尋求老師的幫助。正因?yàn)槿绱耍矣行判淖龊靡幻⒄Z科代表。

A long time ago, there was a huge apple tree. A little boy loved to come and lay around it every day. He climbed to the tree top, ate the apples, took a nap under the shadow… He loved the tree and the tree loved to play with him.
Time went by… the little boy had grown up and he no longer played around the tree every day. One day, the boy came back to the tree and he looked sad. “Come and play with me,” the tree asked the boy. “I am no longer a kid, I don't play around trees anymore.” The boy replied, “I want toys. I need money to buy them.” “Sorry, but I don't have money…but you can pick all my apples and sell them. So, you will have money.” The boy was so excited. He grabbed all the apples on the tree and left happily. The boy never came back after he picked the apples. The tree was sad.
One day, the boy returned and the tree was so excited. “Come and play with me,” the tree said. “I don't have time to play. I have to work for my family. We need a house for shelter. Can you help me?” “Sorry, but I don't have a house. But you can chop off my branches to build your house.” So the boy cut all the branches off the tree and left happily. The tree was glad to see him happy but the boy never came back since then. The tree was again lonely and sad.
One hot summer day, the boy returned and the tree was delighted. “Come and play with me!” the tree said. “I am sad and getting old. I want to go sailing to relax myself. Can you give me a boat?” “Use my trunk to build your boat. You can sail far away and be happy.” So the boy cut the tree trunk to make a boat. He went sailing and never showed up for a long time. The tree was happy, but it was not true.
Finally, the boy returned after he left for so many years. “Sorry, my boy. But I don't have anything for you anymore. No more apples for you…” the tree said.
"I don't have teeth to bite,” the boy replied.
"No more trunk for you to climb on.”
"I am too old for that now,” the boy said.
"I really can't give you anything… the only thing left is my dying roots,” the tree said with tears.
"I don't need much now, just a place to rest. I am tired after all these years.” The boy replied.
"Good! Old tree roots is the best place to lean on and rest. Come, Come sit down with me and rest.” The boy sat down and the tree was glad and smiled with tears…
This is a story of everyone. The tree is our parent. When we were young, we loved to play with Mom and Dad… When we grown up, we left them, and only came to them when we need something or when we are in trouble. No matter what, parents will always be there and give everything they could to make you happy. You may think that the boy is cruel to the tree but that's how all of us are treating our parents.

Psychologist tell us that stress is a state of worry caused by the problem of living , such as too much work or study , heavy responsibilities , and quickened pace of life .
Statistics show that stress comes fr-om every detail in our life . Financial problems , poor health , being laid off may be the stress that most adults now suffering . As students in the university , we are also under our special stress . While study , having to take various tests and submit a project against a deadline may put a great pressure on us . And the things make us felt stressed may be our parents's greater expectations on us than we could reach . Later , when we are likely to graduate , some other problems will also annoy us . I think we will worry a lot about our ability to compete in the job market and how we can best use what we've learned at college in our future job .
The chief problem we should face to is our atitude towards stress .People usually say they can not live in the sun except they escape fr-om stress . It's unwelcome ! Yes , however , very necessary . Just image a world where stress does not exist and people lead their life in a very comfortable way . But is this kind of living condition as perfect as we hope ? Without stress , they may feel very satisfied with the current life but lack of power to discover new things . Too much satisfaction result in nothing except a countermarch of the society . No stress , no development . So a certain amount of stress is good . It can stimulate us and increase our level of aler-tness .
And our answer to stress is another vital problem . How to do with ourselves when stress suddenly break into our life ? To wave the white flag and admit our unability , to give up to our ideality , or worstly , just to suicide as to put an end to everything. Of cause not . The principle is to tackle with stress gentlely and harmoniously. We should try our best to release ourselves . Such as to do some exercise , to linsen to traditional Chinese music or classical music to ease our minds and to learn to view these changes of life as challenges .It's no use crying over spilt milk . Only to accept what has happened can solve the problem .
Ok , I think I was under large stress 3 minutes before , but now I am here and have finished my speech . Here is the last thing I want to add to my topic ,face to it and overcome it ,stress is also a piece of cake .
